Last Tuesday evening, we kicked off the very first Warby Parker x The Standard, Hollywood Book Club with a discussion of 86’d by L.A. native Dan Fante (he’s also the son of novelist Ask the Dust’s John Fante).
Be forewarned: 86’d is not a light read. Fante’s main character (and his alter ego) Bruno Dante is an alcoholic writer wrestling through his temptations to make use of his talent. So yeah, it can get a little raw.
If you’re looking to get out of your comfort zone, it’s pretty safe to say Fante’s humorous (and a little painful) 86’d will serve you well.
Stick around for the next book in our series!
