Good music, fun crowd, excellent venue: it doesn’t take much to throw a great party.
Last week, we welcomed our friends (the fun crowd requirement) in from the cold to Chez André (excellent venue component) at The Standard, East Village for a lively evening in honor of the Artists in Residence album release.
DJ Cory Kennedy
As for good music, Sophie Auster—that’s her at the very top—and Sidd Khosla—backed by his band Goldspot—took to the stage at the hotel’s Chez André after DJ Cory Kennedy warmed us up. (If you’re ever in the neighborhood, visit the club— if nothing more than to peep André Saraiva’s graffiti.)

After they signed off, the music continued with a live karaoke band. There was a little Aretha, a little Oasis, and some Dusty Springfield after Sophie came back to perform “Son of a Preacher Man.”
If you’re looking for more music, check out the other Artists in Residence here.
