We opened two long-awaited stores this past month on opposite coasts in Baltimore and Newport Beach—and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!
When looking for a neighborhood to settle in Baltimore, we couldn’t resist the nautical charm of Harbor East. Located right along the beautiful waterfront, east of the historic Inner Harbor and adjacent to Fell’s Point, Harbor East is a vibrant and bustling area—and full of a wonderful retailers, restaurants, and residents. (Plus, we don’t mind that Camden Yards isn’t far.)
The interior of the space takes cues from a classic library, with elegant displays of books, brass library lamps, and terrazzo flooring—and our entire collection of glasses housed on dark-walnut library shelves. Also on view: exclusive artwork by illustrator and animator Otto Steininger, whose work we have admired in The New Yorker and many other publications.
And now to the west, our new Map Room inside Alchemy Works: Harbor House in Newport Beach’s Lido Marina Village. (If Alchemy Works sounds familiar, it should! Back in 2014, we opened the Warby Parker Glass House inside their Los Angeles Arts District space.) We’re pretty partial to Alchemy Works’ husband-and-wife owners, Raan and Lindsay, and brother Shea, a crew with good taste and generosity to spare, so we were pumped to continue this partnership.
Alchemy Works: Harbor House is a dedicated outpost for brothers Shea and Raan Partons’ Apolis, a socially motivated lifestyle brand that empowers communities worldwide. Inside, the Warby Parker Map Room adds a topographic flavor to the maritime-influenced space. You’ll notice a cartography-inspired floor design, walls decorated with a world map illustrating every time zone, and an antique brass map installation. Peek inside a card catalogue credenza to find even more (Yep! More!) maps, and spin a globe to determine your next adventure.
