WP-Austin-24We’re ~extremely~ excited to announce that—at long last!—we’ve opened a stand-alone retail store in Austin. We’ve been missing this city ever since our Class Trip bus left in June, and we’re so glad to be back.

Inside the new store, we’ve designed a dedicated writing center for Austin Bat Cave, a local nonprofit that gives kids and teenagers aged 6–18 free opportunities to develop their creative and expository writing skills. Their annual anthologies will be for sale and on display throughout the store, and the Austin Bat Cave team will also hand-select the books that stock our patio lending library, just as they did for our Class Trip bus these past few years. (They’ve got great taste.)

WP-Austin-16Adorning the walls are indigo-dyed bandanas designed in collaboration with our friends at Austin-based studio LAND, hand-dyed by Maura Ambrose of Folk Fibers, and hand-printed by printmaking studio Bearded Lady. And the art doesn’t stop there: The store’s photo booth, in which you can commemorate yourself in your favorite new frames, features colorful backdrops illustrated by our friend and frequent collaborator Alia Penner.

WP-Austin-18To top it all off, there’s some comfy seating in the backyard to sit, read, and relax. Stop by when you can!
