The Austin Bat Cave is a nonprofit organization that helps kids and teenagers develop writing skills. This is a very good thing for a nonprofit to focus on, because writing is a skill that:

a) Can be used profitably in daily life and in job situations
b) Can NOT be done by a robot or computer
c) Helps you think creatively
d) Is useful on Valentine’s Day and other holidays

For the above reasons, we strongly support the work that our friends at the Austin Bat Cave do. Recently, we were honored to sponsor the latest anthology of student writing produced by the organization.  The book circled the theme of correspondence, and it was accompanied by an auction of correspondence-related treasures written by everyone from Lena Dunham to Willie Nelson (!) to Amy Poehler to George Saunders.

We had a ball.
