We Spy: English Oak

The English Oak tree is known for a few things: remarkable sturdiness, versatility (especially in its afterlife), incredible height, and, most impressively, being known as the king of the forest. It’s also the national tree of England, which certainly makes sense.

All of those traits are impressive, but they don’t exactly translate to our English Oak frame, which, as you might guess, is not made from actual wood. Instead, it’s crafted from custom cellulose acetate—an exceptionally strong, plant-based polymer that can be produced in brilliant colors and patterns. That’s why we use it to replicate the yellowish brown striations and natural wood characteristics found in real English Oak wood. Also, it doesn’t give you splinters.
