Style Stories: Laura Choi
We work with some pretty sharp dressers, and it’s always a treat to see what they will wear each day. We’re highlighting a few of the stories behind their looks.
Laura Choi, Retail experience manager (wearing the Ainsworth in Walnut Tortoise)
Jacket, Helmut Lang: “I used to work at Bloomingdale’s, and I got it on mega sale. Big sales times are always January and July, at the end of the seasons. My advice: always buy your coats in January instead of November. I throw this jacket on all the time, even with workout clothes. The outside is soft leather and the inside is t-shirt material. It’s the most perfect jacket ever.”
Dress, Thakoon Addition: “Also a mega sale purchase. I would keep my eyes on certain pieces and then just wait. After being in the industry, I realized it’s not worth buying anything full price. Working in retail I was privileged to purchase with discounts, and now it’s hard to pay full-price. I used to be a big shopper, but being at Warby Parker now, I’m trying to be much more thoughtful as a consumer and pay attention to where things are manufactured and just be better at consuming, not necessarily less but just better. It sounds like I’m eating something!”
Clutch, Clare Vivier: “I had it monogrammed, but I’ve worn it so much the letters are nearly gone. It’s the first monogrammed piece that I own, although I did have a varsity jacket with a big L on the back. It’s lost in a pile somewhere in my apartment.”
