At the Common Good Market on Saturday we were joined by an amazingly creative San Diego-based community. Among the vendors that joined us for the day was Sable and Snow, a stationary and fine paper goods company comprised of three friends and former classmates, Ashley, Katie and Jessica.

The trio met during a design class at San Diego State, a rigorous class that required them to spend a lot of time together. They became fast friends, bonding over a passion for design and their similar aesthetic. After going separate ways professionally after graduating in May of 2011, they came together again to create work that they just simply enjoy, without the corporate atmosphere.

Their company is based upon the idea of creating “high quality goods with an ethical heartbeat.” All of their products are printed locally, assembled by hand and created using recycled paper.

Their designs are sweet, slightly quirky (which we only say in the best way) and endearing. For example, we left with a Valentine’s Day card with an illustration of a tutu wearing alligator, and another with loopy text and delicately outlined flowers.

We’ve now found our new go-to for any sort of card (thank you, holiday, or just because) and notebooks! Plus, we’ll be sending the San Diego made goods home to our families as souvenirs from our visit—great alternatives to key chains and printed t-shirts.
