This month, our Pop-In@Nordstrom spaces are decorated with an illustrated history of us. Here’s a taste of what you’ll find; consider this your Warby Parker 101, plenty of literary elements included.

Jack Kerouac’s On the Road
We’ve always looked to the master wordsmith, iconoclast, and pop culture icon, Jack Kerouac. While browsing at the New York Public Library, one of our co-founders and co-CEOs Dave spotted two character names in one of Kerouac’s journals: Zagg Parker and Warby Pepper. We took the best from each and made it our name, and Kerouac’s disciplined yet improvisational approaches continue to inspire us daily.

Lion
Speaking of the New York Public Library, that’s where we held our very first and very guerrilla presentation during New York Fashion Week in 2011. Patience and Fortitude, a pair of marble lions, keep watch over the entrance to the NYPL.

Cross-legged man, hunched over and reading:
This is fig. 5 “Mr. Lonely” in our beloved Reading Positions, an illustrated catalog of exactly what it sounds like. It’s wallpapered up in all its glory at our Lexington Avenue store in New York City.

Miscellaneous books:
Glasses and books, books and glasses. They’re just better when they’re together, you know?
