Introducing the Warby Parker Costume Council

Finding the perfect costume can be frightening. And as you may know, we kind of have a thing for dressing up. So this year the Warby Parker Costume Council is offering costume help in two ways!

Finding the perfect costume can be frightening. And as you may know, we kind of have a thing for dressing up. So this year the Warby Parker Costume Council is offering costume help in two ways! If you’re in New York City, you can stop by the in-person consultation station located at our headquarters. There’ll be scary-good photo ops, and candy for the taking. No tricks here.

Can’t make it? We’ve still got you covered. Text BOO to 68848 and answer a few questions about yourself using emojis. Then *poof*: You magically receive a costume suggestion based on your answers.

Let’s do this.

Books We Love: “Conversations with Friends” by Sally Rooney

Frances and Bobbi are one-time lovers, now firmly best friends. They go to college together, perform poetry together, debate the function of romance under capitalism together. (As one does.) At a poetry reading one evening, they meet a well-known journalist named Melissa, and a sort of convoluted love quadrilateral takes shape with the three and Melissa’s husband.

Writing characters as self-aware as Sally Rooney’s requires serious smarts, and her debut novel, “Conversations with Friends,” sparkles in its elegance, perceptiveness, and humor. The book is filled with Frances and Bobbi’s exchanges on everything from the timely (marital politics, mental health, and so on) to the timeless (intimacy, insecurity, you get the idea). That all sounds potentially insufferable, but Rooney makes both protagonists so deeply likable that curling up with her novel feels—ah ha!—like a good, long conversation with friends.

Introducing Warby Parker Archive Edition

Sometimes you need to pull from the past to create something new. That’s the case for our latest—and first-of-its-kind—frame construction.

Sometimes you need to pull from the past to create something new. That’s the case for our latest—and first-of-its-kind—frame construction, which blends our favorite (and most intricate) vintage design details with modern techniques devised at our headquarters in New York City. The result is something special.

Combining details from our Windsor rim (lightweight titanium eyewire coupled with premium cellulose acetate coils) with our latest mixed-material frames (think 1950s silhouettes with bold acetate browlines), we developed a series of ultra-distinctive styles that you’ll only find at Warby Parker. Each multi-layered pair is hand-assembled and completely hand-finished by a master craftsman in Fukui, Japan, where high-quality eyewear has been produced for over 100 years.

We applied this complex construction to five new styles and outfitted them in seven new color combinations. Then we rounded out the frames with some top-notch hardware: exposed titanium bridges, barrel hinges, Akulon-coated screws, and adjustable silicon nose pads for an easy, anti-slip fit. Voilà.

Hello, Lexington and Plano

We recently opened up shop in two different corners of the South—Lexington, KY and Plano, TX—and we couldn’t be happier with the spots we found in each of them.

We recently opened up shop in two different corners of the South—Lexington, KY and Plano, TX—and we couldn’t be happier with the spots we found in each of them.

Our Lexington store is at The Summit at Fritz Farm and features murals all around the exterior by Lexington-born illustrator Ben Wiseman. (There’s another one inside behind the Reference Desk, too. It’s a Ben Wiseman extravaganza!)

In Plano, at Legacy West, our store features field guide-inspired artwork by Texan artist Bryan Keplesky. From pecans to cowboy poetry, his illustrations highlight some of our very favorite state-specific things.

Two light-filled stores with locally flavored art—if you’re near either one, you know what to do!

The Warby Parker blog is where we post about things
we’re reading, writing, seeing, making and doing.
